How To Pour New Concrete Over Old Concrete | Stamped Concrete Patio
#concreteoverconcrete #pourconcreteoverexistingconcrete #mikedayconcrete In this video I will show you how to pour a new concrete patio slab over an old existing concrete slab. This old concrete slab was structurally sound but the surface was in pretty bad shape. It was also poured in a couple sections and sloped back towards the house. I suggested we pour a new stamped concrete patio slab right over the old concrete slab instead of removing it. The reason for this was there was no reason to remove it. The old slab wasn't all cracked up and settling, it wasn't lifting or heaving in the winter, it just didn't look good and was sloped the wrong way. By pouring a new concrete slab over the old one it made a smaller step up into the garage for this homeowner. The old step up was around 10", now the new step up is close to 6" making it a much easier step for them. Since some of the new concrete was 2" thick, I decided to bond the new concrete to the old concrete. I used Weld-Crete for this. You just brush it on the entire surface of the old concrete, let it dry, and pour right over it. The new concrete re-activates it and bonds the concrete together. I recommend bonding any concrete over pour like this if it's less than 3" thick.
