Pouring Concrete In Cold Weather (Fast Setting Mix Design)

#EverythingAboutConcrete #MikeDayConcrete In this video I'm sharing with you how I pour concrete floors in cold weather. The mix design I use is a fast setting one that allows us to finish the concrete in a few hours instead of 8 - 10 hours. The main ingredient in the mix (and most important for fast setting) is using hot water. If you're batch plant is capable of warming the water for you, it'll get your concrete to set up in half the time than if you use cold water. The 2nd ingredient is cement, I switch from a 3000psi concrete to a 4000psi concrete mix in cold weather to help with heat of hydration and speed up my set times. I also use accelerators to get my concrete to set up faster. I mainly use flake calcium chloride in my mixes, there's also liquid calcium and non-chloride accelerators to help speed up the mix times. We always use a water reducer in our pours to help make the concrete more workable. This allows us to be faster pouring the floors.
