Pour A New Concrete Patio Over An Existing Concrete Patio

#EverythingAboutConcrete #TheConcreteUnderground In this video I'm pouring a new concrete patio over an old existing concrete patio. The old concrete was in pretty bad shape. The surface was very worn, chipped and spalled. We had enough height to pour a new concrete patio 4" thick so the prep was minimal on the old concrete. When pouring new concrete over old, if you're pouring 3" thick or more, and the old concrete is structurally sound, it's ok to pour right over it with very little prep. Just clean it off and pour over. If the new concrete is going to be less than 3" thick, then I will bond the two slabs together using a product called Weld Crete. I brush it on in advance of the pour, let it dry, and pour right over it. Check out the link below for Weld Cete. Pouring a new concrete patio 4" thick like this one over concrete isn't much different than pouring over a dirt/gravel sub-base. Hard compacted gravel and old solid concrete both make for a good sub-base.
