Polished concrete floor mix with glass

by Richard

Q. What concrete mix is best for a polished interior floor and would you change the mix if adding pieces of coloured glass to the surface after pouring the slab?

A. We use a 4000 psi. concrete mix with either 3/8 or 3/4 inch stone. The higher psi. mix is better for polishing the concrete. It's important when placing the concrete to get the concrete floor very flat and use a power trowel to finish the surface. Also, use a hand trowel to get the edges very flat and smooth. The person installing the concrete floor plays a very important part in how the polished floor looks when it is done. Adding colored glass to the surface of this mix will work just fine.
