Pouring Concrete For A Basement Crawl Space (Mud Slab)

#EverythingAboutConcrete #MudSlab #MikeDayConcrete This video is about how to pour a concrete floor for a basement that'll only be a crawl space. We call these concrete floors "mud slabs". They're basically just for sealing off the gravel floor and providing a dry storage area if the homeowner desires to use it for that. This house will not have a full basement, that's why we call it a crawl space. After the first floor is built, there will only be about four feet of space between the concrete floor and the first floor wood decking. We used a power screed for some of this floor and a hand screed for the rest. The concrete was "hot" when it arrived which led it to set-up faster than usual. The final finish for a mud slab us usually a bull float finish. Being careful when bull floating will leave the surface nice and smooth for anyone who desires to crawl around down there after the house is built.
