Figerglass Pieces Protruding From the Concrete Surface

(Wisconsin)

Q. We have recently had a new concrete driveway and walk done where the surface has been brushed such that fiber pieces protrude above the surface. They lay on the surface each about half an inch long. Cosmetically it does is not have a good look. What happened and what is a remedy?

A. This is very common and nothing is "wrong" with the concrete. The pieces of fibermesh that protrude will eventually wear off. In the highly traveled areas this will occur much quicker than the less traveled areas. We use a fiber called micro-fiber in our exterior concrete walks & driveways, you can't see it after finishing. Maybe your contractor didn't know about this kind of fibermesh.
