Release Agent

Q. Can you apply a release agent and seal immediately afterwards? I just had my patio stamped and colored, however, the salt water from the pool seems to have discolored it. I was hoping to reapply the colored agent and seal it again.

A. You can not apply the release agent dust to the concrete and seal over it. The sealer will not properly bond to the concrete and fail in a short amount of time.

You can mix some of the release agent dust with the sealer if it is a solvent based sealer, thus coloring the sealer. Then apply the colored sealer to those spots and the clear sealer to the rest of the stamped concrete.

Be sure to wash the entire patio with a mild soap and lightly pressure wash to rinse. Let it dry for at least 24 hrs before you reseal it and make sure no rain is in the forecast for 2 days.
